Improving the Kitchen

Saturday, January 31st, 2009

I reckon if I only blogged about weight loss then most people will get bored.  To be honest I’d be surprised if you’re all not bored already!

As well as improving myself through weight loss I’m also trying to do something about work and also the amount I give to the community.  Right now though my main concern is improving the kitchen, well, stopping the leaking washing machine valves that we have at the minute.

When we first moved into our house we had a hideous kitchen.  All along we planned to sort it out but it was always going to be the last thing we did, other than the garden.  Just after Christmas we popped to Wickes and ordered our new one.  It hasn’t arrived yet but we’ve got started anyway.  So far Wickes have been awesome.  The designer, Paul Ibbotson, was brilliant, their service has been great and hopefully everything will arrive as planned on Wednesday.

At the moment our kitchen looks like…

…which is surprisingly better than our old one was despite having nothing in it yet.  Today we spent 6 hours pulling up tiles that were so well adhered to the floor it was unbelievable.  We’ve just got a few more to go tomorrow, then the skirting boards need to come off and we’re done until the electrician comes round to shift the plugs and lay the underfloor heating.

For now though, I’m kicking back watching a bit of TV looking forward to grabbing sunday lunch with a friend and not looking forward to starting calorie counting again on Monday.
