goals

After meeting my first challenge of 100kg by my 30th birthday  set a target of hitting 15% body fat by the end of the year.  I set about it with gusto but failed to maintain the momentum needed.  So I need a new goal and that goal is…

95kg by 1st January 2010

It’s going to be a tough one since I’ve put on a little weight (5kg to be precise so not actually just a little) following the 100kg goal.  That means I’ll need to be losing nearly a kilo a week but it’s doable if I get my head down.  If I fail the 95kg mark then I at least owe it to myself to be 100kg or less at the end of the year otherwise my good work at the beginning will be wasted.

So the breakdown of goals and rewards are…

  • 102.5kg – Mumford and Sons CD
  • 100kg – T-Shirt by Threadless
  • 97.5kg – Piano Lesson
  • 95kg – DJ tutorial

The idea behind the CD and t-shirt are that they are just small rewards.  I don’t want to reward myself again for reaching weights I shouldn’t have to reach once more but I still need something to focus my mind.  I’ve been looking at the Threadless t-shirts for a long while now and to get one would definitely be a reward.

The other two rewards, the ones reserved for when I drop below 100kg are much bigger, maybe not in cost but definite;y in value for me.  For a long while I’ve been thinking about getting into music a little more.  I used to really enjoy it when I was young but never stuck at it, something I regret now.  The idea is to try and pick it up again and use this reward system as an excuse.  The DJ tutorial is also something I’ve been meaning to do for a while.  I’ve got a set of decks but have never made the most of them. One of my motivational images though revolves around DJing and being the centre of attention so that plays to many aspects of my weight loss.

Anyway, here’s hoping I’ll be on the decks by the end of the year!
